VPN all day, every day

State employees who are teleworking must ensure that their workstation remains secured while they are accessing work networks, emails, applications and files.

Action Steps

State employees should PAUSE and make sure they are following department’s telework policy, including always using an office approved VPN (virtual private network). VPN provides a protected tunnel between your workstation and the office network.

State employees should also VERIFY that their workstations are secure by always checking during the day that VPN is still active. Even if VPN is not required to access your email, network and files, it is an important protection for your workstation and your work network. If, however, there is a work application that does not work with VPN, make sure you have closed out of all other applications while using that application.
